Novar Plc
Novar plc (formerly Caradon plc) was a UK-based international building supplies group. It originated in 1921 as the Metal Box Company, formed through the amalgamation of several businesses involved in canning and printing. By the 1970s, Metal Box had become a market leader in these sectors. During the 1980s, the company diversified into the building supplies industry, eventually operating around 30 companies that provided products to the construction and DIY sectors. In the early 1990s, the company was rebranded as Caradon plc, reflecting its growing focus on building products. In 2000, Caradon sold off its plumbing and bathroom brands, including the Caradon name, and continued its operations under the name Novar plc. The rebranding reflected a strategic shift toward technology and controls, particularly through its subsidiary Novar Controls. In 2005, Novar plc was acquired by Honeywell, a U.S.-based multinational conglomerate. Following the acquisition, Novar’s UK operati ...

Novar House
Novar House is an 18th-century building, located 0.7 miles north of the village of Evanton in Ross, Scotland, Ross, Scotland. It is built on the site of an earlier castle. History The Munros of Novar descend from Munros of Milntown, John Munro, 1st of Milntown, who in turn was the second son of Hugh Munro, 9th Baron of Foulis (d.1425). The lands of the Novar Estate were acquired in 1589 from William Keith of Delny by Neil Munro of Swordale, whose brother Andrew Munro was the ancestor of the Novar branch of the Clan Munro. At the time the Novar lands covered one quarter of the lands known as Fyrish Monument, Fyrish. There is a datestone of 1634 built into the side of the original Novar House, which is now part of the west side of the inner courtyard. Robert Munro, 2nd of Novar was named as one of the early Scottish justices of the peace in 1634. The house was enlarged considerably in 1720 with a three-storey building facing south under Hector Munro, 4th of Novar. The current ho ...

It lies on the shore of the Cromarty Firth near the village of Evanton. In the 1934 edition of the loose-leaf publication 'The Air Pilot' (3rd edition) published by The Air Ministry the field is designated as 'R.A.F. Landing Ground (Seasonal) Novar'. The name Novar was later changed to Evanton. History An airfield was established on the site in 1922 to support the Royal Navy, Royal Navy's Home Fleet, which had one of its main bases nearby at Invergordon. (Before arriving in port, aircraft carriers must fly off their aircraft to a land base: it is difficult or impossible for fixed wing aircraft to operate from a carrier while the ship is at anchor.) Originally, the navy used a site at Delny, near Invergordon, but it could not be enlarged for larger planes. At first, the airfield was known as the Novar base, after the Novar H ...
